I am sooooo lucky. I live about 10 mins from East Midlands and 40 mins from Birmingham.
Skied: Arinsal, La Plagne, Alpe D'huez, Flaine, Les Arcs, Morzine, Les Gets, Avoriaz, Sauze, Courchevel, Val Thorens

If you don't mind, East Mids and BHX are 2 of the best UK airports to fly in and out of.

Probably, although I'm not a Brummie. If you want quiet check ins, no fighting to get on board, nice chilled out bars and eateries, and 30 mins from landing to getting in your car, then they're good airports.
If you like to queue to get to the departures terminal, queue to check in, sit with a bunch of chavs in MacDonalds, walk half an hour to find your gate, and take over an hour from landing to get through passport control, choose Gatwick.
