To a point, it will get to the stage where you are sacrificing manoeuvrability for stability you don't really need.

Pablo,
You mean, don't try going on powder using skis more than about 2 foot (60 cms for our younger members) wide

I'm ok'ish on moguls it's the deep powder that does me in.

Just because you don't do well in powder, doesn't mean you're not a good skier. The same people on powder and the race course.

To me, it just looks like they are trying to ski powder like they would ski a set course. Different tactics are required for all different conditions/slopes.

that is a brilliant clip-they did not look comfortable off the piste there at all!!

first guy was good though and they look so smooth round the gates!

Trencher,
Thanks very much for that - it was great. It made me laugh watching them doing the jump at the beginning - if that was me I'd have been flat on my face just doing the jump! I hope they were all okay after falling like that.

Is it compulsory to whack the slalom gates with your pole as you go past? They were definitely much better at doing that. They looked like they'd never been in deep powder before.

its the natural fastest line around the gate for the ski but it leaves the body to cut across the pole-bloody hurts so it does!
