Does anyone know where I can buy a French/English ski dictionary?
I have an ordinary French dictionary, but it doesn't include specialist ski words and expressions. I am also having French classes in our local community centre but the teacher is not a skier herself, so she doesn't have the extra vocab either.
I will be ski-ing in a lesson with the French in the afternoon (which I've done before) and I would like to improve both my level of understanding and speaking.
I have thought that maybe a very simple learn to ski book in French might do, because I generally find it easier to understand expressions (especially when I have a dictionary to hand) than to compose them.
I would have thought that a ski dictionary would exist for French ski instructors teaching British skiers.
Thanks,
Ally

Tino,
That's very kind of you to try and help, but really, I am serious here.
Mind you, if no such dictionary exists it would explain why generations of British skiers have had to put up with 'Bend zee knees' etc.

This is clearly going to be my next challenge - to compose a French/English ski dictionary for practical use during ski holidays.
I need simple, useful expressions, like 'Excuse me, but where are we now on this piste map' which would be something like 'Excusez-moi Madame/Monsieur, ou sont nous sur la carte de la piste?' (which isn't totally right - needs improvement).
I will write it in Word and post a link to it once I've written a bit, and then maybe people will be encouraged to contribute a few words - there must be some bilingual French/English J2skiers hiding on here somewhere who could help with it.

Tino,
Did you compose that yourself, or did you use one of those translation websites?
