Which way to go?

After getting the bug in Austria last year and plans for a week of skiing not going to plan I now have the chance of 3 days in early Feb. We've highlighted Geneva for flights but not sure which way to go from here - stay in Switz or go to France? I'm just above a beginner, we don't want to travel too far. I've looked at all the ski websites but i'm going round in circles.

Everyones always been very helpful on here, so thanks guys and any advice much appreciated :-)

Try the grand massif, flaine, samoens, les carroz, morillon all can be reached in around 1hr from Geneva and slightly cheaper than other areas

As a relative beginner go somewhere within budget, within your capability but mostly somewhere where you will enjoy the thing we all love. Go somewher with lots of blues close to base you you can ski home to the bar....job done

I've never been Vivalas, but me & my buddies were very close to going to Les Gets/Morzine area simply because of the easy, short transfer from Geneva. Couldn't give you an idea of what it's like, but a quick gander at the resort guide might clue you in.

One year, my buddy & I just grabbed a flight to Geneva & then, without any thought just jumped on the first bus heading out of the airport. This took us to Chamonix, which is also a short distance away, but one place I don't rate that highly. Mainly because you have to bus to all of the three ski areas. Once you're there it's all pretty good & the town nightlife is excellent, but overall I'd try somewhere else.

Vivalas, am writing this from Samoens, and am seeing a few replies on this thread recommending Grand-Massif.

I have never been here before butmy first impressions are excellent. Excellent easy links to Geneva airport. Took us just over an hour in rush hour. Great access from villages to top of the mountain via fast lifts. Dedicated beginners areas with seemingly no need to buy full pass if you're on the slopes. Samoens is very old Alpine village with bags of charm. It's not the liveliest of places but whatever rocks your boat really.

Overall, great place. I am having a lovely time and would recommend for your requirements. Suspect you'll find it a little more expensive than Austria. Euros have sprouted legs and have ability to walk out of your wallet...

There are pros and cons for both ...price wise they are both about the same, there are many many resorts an from geneva. :thumbup:

I you live near London you could go by train...opens up lots of options and doesn't limit the stuff you take. We went to Sauze D'oulx in late Dec. Station is only 10 mins from the slopes...its cheap and has extensive blues top cruise.
