AFAIR it keeps moving and you step on at the back and off the same way, holding your skis.

The Télécentre lift at Alpe d'Huez is a pulsed, fixed grip monocable gondola lift fitted with baskets instead of cabins, each basket holds 4 people. The lift doesn't stop at the stations but it does slow down (from 5 m/s to 0.5 m/s) the journey time from the bottom to top station is 11 mins.

John, it's very user friendly and the very best way to get from the bottom of the village to the main lifts and slopes etc. Alpe D'Huez is a widespread resort, on several levels, connected by steep roads and paths. Not much fun for the pedestrian hence this very slow lift. Easy to get on and off - and if I recall correctly, it does serve one very gentle slope.

This same Q has also been posted by the original poster on SH, where the same resorts' yoghurt pots functions were discussed with a little more sarcasm )

Don't use it. Its slow, pointless and gets big queues in the morning. Its easier to ski down and back up or walk across town.
