Rainbow is the most northerly ski area on the South Isle, and opened its first lift in 1982. The resort offers good views, a good sunshine record and excellent skiing and 'boarding for all ability levels.

How to get to Rainbow

 By Air

The nearest airports to Rainbow are Taupo, Rotorua and Napier. There are eight airports within three hours drive. Taupo is just one hours drive away, in good driving conditions, so you can be on the piste quickly.


Ski Lift Capacity

The six ski lifts of Rainbow are able to uplift 3,000 skiers and snowboarders every hour.

Rainbow is able to make snow, with 12 snow cannons.

When is Rainbow open?

We don't currently have confirmed season dates for Rainbow.

Usual opening is Early July (Opening day is pre-opening day for members - public opening is the next day), and usual closing is Mid September.

NOTE:- Lift and Piste openings are always subject to Snow Conditions in Rainbow.
