Is there a place still not too crowded with difficult slopes to enjoy? I heard that in Montana or Canada it is possible to find some. Does anybody have any reference to shear in this matter?

I am looking for universities located close to ski centers. Do you know any in USA?

Hi Fogs! I just spent 3 days in Bariloche. Good snow, no wind, no clouds, lot of sun. Just perfect!
I would say that Bariloche is the best ski resort of South America. It is the largest for sure.

The advantages are that the town is close and that the views are amazing because there are two beatiful lakes surrounding the mountain. Argentina is quite cheap nowdays too. Specially the food. Generally the people is kind and most of them speaks something resembling English that helps to communicate.

However the weather is usually bad and the lifts are quite old, so the service is so so. However, if you can get in there a sunny day with good snow you'll be very close to heaven. Unfortunately that can be planned only 5 days in advance. To plan, you can try www.snow-forecast.com that is very precise lately, and the ski-center website gives you the updated condition of the snow conditions.

Oh! Just one last but not least important thing: Bariloche (Catedral) is a difficult mountain. It is great for advanced skiers, but could be hell for beginers. For beginers I would recommend Las Leñas (it is more expensive but there are infinite miles of easy slopes) or Chapelco (less expensive).
Nevertheless, Bariloche has a few easy slopes, but usually there are huge lines in the lifts. If you like to combine difficult slopes and good food, take with you a good pair of all-terrain skis and be there after a snow storm.
