The oldest lift in Zermatt's Matterhorn Ski Paradise, the 37 years old Patrullarve quad chairlift installed back in the 1980s (just), will be replaced this winter with a state-of-the-art six-seater chairlift with pull-down bubble covers.
The new chairlift, which increases uphill capacity from 2400 to 3200 people per hour and shortens the journey time from 7.4 to 6.2 minutes by travelling a metre per second faster than its predecessor, is the first in the world to use manufacturer Leitner's new Ropera technology which is has been initiated to set new standards in durability and innovation, meeting the highest standards of comfort, efficiency, and operational safety.
Major construction work has been taking place this summer in the Patrullarve–Sunnegga–Blauherd area.
The Ropera tech means the new lift utilizes durable components, has optimized maintenance intervals, and operates with energy-efficient systems, ensuring particularly low maintenance and resource conservation. At the same time, the ride comfort for guests is significantly enhanced, and the capacity of the connection in this busy area is sustainably improved.
"With the construction of the new Patrullarve chairlift, Matterhorn Ski Paradise is making a targeted investment in the further development of its infrastructure and strengthening the quality of its offerings for future generations of winter visitors," a Zermatt spokesperson said.
