In my argument ise I have not once mentioned about hearing, it has been about distraction, look at it this way if your in the back country with ipod playing , you possibly are not coming contact with anybody, but if you are skiing the piste then you are coming in direct contact with a lot more people, my fear is that the piste will become a more dangerous place as more people ski with ipods, sorry Ross or mp3 players.

in that case I move we ban all of you that need to think about their skiing while doing it ) I've seen them all with the faces screwed up in concentration, that can't be safe surely?  The way your government's going you'll be banned from listening to car radios soon, even my cat's not that easily distracted

I should point out there's a limit to the off-piste you can ski with an iPod on, anything serious and you need to be able to hear as the first signal of a slope failing is often the noise, but on safer slopes it's not a problem.

Is that Broken-Unkle ? Don't want to listening to that while skiing. Sounds more like a tune for the blood wagon.

The accident was...

10 minutes into the lesson, step up to half the slope ski to the midlle turn around facing the bottom of the slope, start to ski down....CRASH>>>>> and she was sitting on her bottom.

I have spoken to the dry slope owner and he's reluctant in giving her the money back, he even charge her for her first lesson although she fell off 10 minutes into it.

Just to clarify I'm not the kind of person that goes off trying to get compensation out of everything in life, this was bad luck and I was looking for some info.

Update: She was concerned that her wrist was permanently damaged and that she may had to face surgery, turns out she will need to wear the plaster for 4 weeks and then she will be able to return to work.

thank goodness it's not going to be a long term problem!

I'm surprised at the slope, that's not good business although I suppose times are hard.

Which is all fine and theoretical. However out in the real world, "other people" can be pretty reckless.

I know you've been hit by someone but you know I'm going to quote accident statistics that show your chances of being of hit by someone skiing are really remote.

Good advice to help people get past if they're too close though.

that's one of the ski myths that'll be featuring in upcoming book, "Stuff Skiers Make Up" ) Which I reckon will sell around no copies at all )

No, after next weekend Zinal stays open and the rest of the Anniviers opens on the 20th. All open next weekend with the possible exception of Vercorin where I've no idea.

Well said. There will always be cases that seem silly, but even in the States, the system works.

yes, it's ironic, the tabloids tell us that the UK is importing some mad claim culture from the US but in truth it's actually importing vigourous lobbies trying to destroy peoples rights.
