flat country skier wrote:Whatever gloves I buy (have to admit always tend to go for a lower to mid price range), my biggest issue is not keeping warm (as the others have said, you can always wear the inner gloves/liners) but that the gloves tend to wear out where the thumbs are - because of carrying the skis in my hands. What are your experiences? Which mid-priced brand would last longer?

MMMMMmmm Never worn out gloves carrying skis
I would suggest that you carry your skis with care :D

So it's a legality to have a breathalyser in the car so how come the rental company are happy to send you out illegally?

Tony_H wrote:Masses of threads about renting from geneva over on "another" ski forum but I couldn't find anything about Lyon. I know the French don't have laws about winter tyres though.

I will be crossing the col du lautaret mid march and its well known for being snowbound so I'm wondering about getting some chains on the way.

Also, its now law to have hi vis vests for each passenger and a breathalyser kit, so do the rental companies provide all this?

They do supply the Hi vis vests, but not the Breathalyser kit, but again I hire in Switzerland, Give the hire company a ring to confirm
