Are you still in one piece?

Yes, thanks for the motherly concern bandit, I think I will be able to cope until the Stannah chair lift arrives

thanks :-)

Yes I guess once the half terms are out of the way resorts normally become quieter except at week-ends, to counteract that one I'm going mid week, fly out on the Sunday fly back on the Thursday, the plan is we will avoid the weekenders who come out more as the weather becomes warmer. 8)
Are you giving anything up for Lent?

I don't think it really gets used that much you will get the odd Kn*b who will mark you down, but lets be honest does it really matter, I think not

EDIT: Why have I dropped to 3 stars

All depends how weird you are really if your insane like myself for example  you get three stars, if you're extremely odd you get five stars, as least I think thats how it works

My wife is a beginner (and has been for 6 years) and this was the resort she liked best. We were there over New Year.
There are no easy runs down to the resort, but you can get the gondola up to the "mid station", and from there, there are several chairlifts which take you to the top of very wide blue/green runs. Then you can cruise here all day long. You will have to get the gondola down though. One advantage is that the runs are at over 2000 metres, so they aren't icy etc.
The top of the gondola is a good meeting point (restaurants etc.) if you have a mixed group.
We stayed at the Planibel, which is right at the bottom of the gondola, so we literally walked out of the hotel and onto the lifts. There are chairlifts up from the bottom as well which will eventually take you to the mid station.

Good luck ! Seems as though you have several choices !!

Good choice, Planibel is a bit of an eye sore, but has a pleasant bar area 8)
