There's a lot of tag-hag stuff going on in skiwear IMHO. People are very label-conscious... and price can be a poor indicator of quality.
I have gone through Helly H (good, great value, but got nicked); North Face layered job (rubbish - waterproofing was bad, zips were cheap and very hard to do up esp with freezing fingers), a Salomon that I had on loan that was good but I got the wrong size and it was just blimmin massive, and the latest was an Eider that I got discount from Snow & Rock. I love it. At the less expensive end of its range, I think North Face is trading heavily on its brand name. I asked two ski shop owners last year what they rated and they all thought it was hilarious how much the 'fashion' names charged... and added that they didn't think much of Spyder. If the author of the thread wants VFM, have a look at the upper end of the Decathlon stuff - not expensive, but good features... |

Sorry re my generalist disenchantment, not much help. I did see rails and I've seen pics of jumps in the venue.
My main beef with it was the quality of the slope itself - one enormous patch of hard ice, and it really was ice - translucent - and the 'snow' was semoule, I gave up before I broke something... |

I went with the kids last half term. Horrible. It's a long way further (from me) but the one in Manchester was immeasurably better.

I know it's the Holy Grail 'n' all, but I'm with the ones who haven't quite cracked it yet.. fell like I need a snorkel whenever I venture into powder...

Cool, thanks Admin, and quite right, comment should be fair and balanced. My natural tendency is to suspect a conspiracy.
