Exactly my point. They should give up preaching about how bad it is, because thata sure fire way to get kids to try something out.

Bloody religion, ban it
Lift Opening Times at Niederau

Padge5000 wrote:Hi folks -

sorry if this has been asked before but does anyone know what time the lifts start in the morning at Niederau and close in the evening? I've been onto the official website and it tells me which lifts are open but not at what time they start and finish.

Thanks for your help.

My advice would be have another beer and stay in bed and wait until the sun comes up in "N" about 14.30.

I still wonder how many people blame their equipment and not their technique

I did wonder this when I posted originally but no one mentioned anything along those lines - are you saying now I could have saved myself a lot of money!!

Actually as my feet lose feeling (or have too much feeling!) whether I'm skiing, walking or sitting I assume there is something wrong with my feet/boots and not my technique - I'm very good at sitting :-).

My Instructor did also say that once my boots were sorted there'd be no stopping me and I would no longer be in the same lessons as my OH - incentive indeed to get them sorted me thinks.

I can only speak for my self, I have owned two pairs of ski boots, I kept my first pair for 14 years. I only got rid because they were started to look a bit girly blue with a bit of pink, that should cause a stir here, but they were comfy, changed to some Rossi's took me twenty mins to decide which pair, then the shop wanted to fit them heat them up, boil my feet, tickle my toes, hiss through their teeth and by now I'm by now getting a bit pissed off because I'm missing my ski time. Every time they saw me they would rush out of the shop to ask me how my boots are my answer was always fine because they were and still are. I remember the cost of the boots it was 229 euro with translated last year to £176 and hopefully they will last me another 14 years... so I guess I am just lucky.
How do airlines make money?

Iceman wrote:Well, this is nothing really to do with skiing but I suppose could be applicable to skiing holidays:-

Cost of Honeymoon to Cuba for 2:£1700

2 x Upgrade too Premier Cabin £400

2 x Seat Reservation £50

2 x priority Booking £50

Total of add ons = £500

That is almost a third of the price of the main holiday again. They say there is no profit in holidays....no, it is in the bl00dy extras

(sorry, had to get that off my chest!!!!)

So don't pay it, then they would not charge the add ons.. it's really simple they are there to make money and they do
Short Ski Break Advice needed :)

T1berious wrote:Hello,

I'm looking at taking a short break in France and looking for some advice. My partner is a keen skiier (25+ Years) and I've been learning over the last two seasons. We went to Zermatt in early Jan and although we both enjoyed it, found it shockingly expensive.

Hoping to take short break in late march and I'm just looking for some advice on how to get a good holiday minus the T.O. :)

We're looking at Morzine, as from what I've read on the forum it's a short transfer from Geneva.

Has anyone got any recommendations for self catering apartments? What's the best way to organise a transfer? Quite keen to keep the costs down.

Thanks in advance for advice.

Cheers

Short breaks do not work out cheap so expect to pay, this years short break to Adelboden was mainly paid for by air-miles well at least the flight and the hire car was. My advice is go though the resort of your choices website, I've never tried to book an apartment we normally go for a hotel as it is just Mrs W and I and it is a bit of a treat this years hotels costing about £500 depending on exchange rate and that is half board.
But the skill of it is to find the hotels which have not been booked out by the TO's, we have normally found that the standard of food is higher and you can tell by my pics and vid I do like a good meal.
NellyPS wrote:Hi Mr W - can you tell me a bit more about your avoidance of using TOs for your skiing holidays? What do you actually do and where do you find the info?

Am curious as to how much of a saving can be made, thinking of driving next winter for a 10 dayer.

Any advice welcome!

Sorry to be so late but some of us have to earn a living, right, first question have you got kids, if you haven't then you can do all sorts of silly things like driving though the night, this is what I do.

Book my holidays at work , very important that one.

Book the Channel tunnel, normally about £120, go though the night and it will be cheaper.

Get car serviced and ensure anti freeze is down to -30.

Snow chains cost about £40

Strong mixture of screen wash

Find a resort, kids are resilient I've been as far Serre Cha, Val Frejus, but settled on a nearer resort for our sakes more than the kids which was LGb.

If you are traveling with kids an overnight stop is advisable.

We normally book a chalet which you can pick up on the net or on the local tourist board site which we did this year the cost is split two ways as for the last six years we have gone with my brother in law and his family.

Tolls and fuel need to be considered.

I guess if you're traveling without family but with friends in one car it can work out cheaper.

For us the full total without filling up with wine at Calais works out at around £2500.

Lift passes booked on line I do not need a resort rep to deliver a lift pass to me, I stop at the tourist board and collect it.

Unless you have four individuals splitting the cost it possibly works out cheaper with the TO's, £2500 ( without the cost of food and spending money ) could I get a catered chalet for the three of us for the last week in January below £833 per head the answer is yes I could.

So my advice would be work out your costing and decide what you want from your holiday, only you will know your budget

Good luck but remember it does not always work out cheaper, if you need any other help or information please Pm me.

Have you thought that they might not want to go to Austria, try offering them France or Italy I'm sure they would then jump at the chance 8)
