I've got three 20 litre jerry cans. I usually have between 20 and 40 litres of petrol at any one time.

Not as back for the car but for the mower (which takes 7.5 litres), chainsaw and strimmer.

Never had any trouble filling them up before now but bet I would if i tried this week.

Wow....no wibble for 24 hours. Slackers...

Went out on my mountain bike this morning. Lovely weather but got a puncture 3/4 way round which was pretty annoying.

Then out for a business meeting.

Queued for 15 minutes to fill up my car (7 mile range left in tank  - they say we are only ever 3 meals away from anarchy but it's more like one tank full of fuel...
hmmmm.

I think I'm leaning towards continuing to rent.

Maybe after each ski trip I'll be able to re-assess. The rental kit in Hemsedal was pretty good last time (Head Peak 74 I think). Hope it is this time.

Not sure i understand the explanation of that decision though.

Might start a "who wants to ski with Snapzzz at beginning of march" thread :-(

Me and Mr Nelly are going in March - lets go!

And Icy is up for it too! Thats 4

Chamonix in March sounds good to me as well :D

Of course, I would have to ski 100 yards behind snapzzz now that he has his new bright green jacket/blue kegs and me being in my brown jacket bought from Woolworths.
Thanks for all the replies j2ski peeps.

I might see if I can blag a go on some skis for sale when in Norway - see if I can sense a difference between models and specs.

My biggest problem probably relates to the fact that I'm not sure what I should be asking for. I'll be heading off on my 5th skiing holiday and I think I've done reasonably well to get to where I am by now, ie comfortable on reds, will tackle black runs and also moguls as long as not too steep. Maybe now I'll be able to concentrate more on the subtleties of skiing?

Barney, can i ask you why you bought that?

Personally i don't see any use for it in skiing as it only extends to 43cm. I struggle to get a full shot on my ski poles which are 115cm.
Also, how can you hold three poles?

I've bought the extra long pole version - 95cm long (from dogcam) + the tripod mount. Should just about be long enough. It collapses down to 30cm so will fit in a backpack.

Shouldn't be too tricky to hold both ski poles in one hand whilst using it. And the kids want to be able to have a go as well and it just wouldn't work if attached to one of my ski poles. My eldest is a boarder.

There is some method in my madness. I'm not a complete numpty. :(
