jonah690 wrote:Hi Id steer cleer of Mayahofen if you dont want to get up early in the morning as even with the new lift its still a drag getting up the mountain. Amazing me looking back at the early 80s when we used to wait over an hour to get up the Cable Car every morning and sometimes the same to get down. People just woudnt do that now.

Id stick to France this late generally higher resorts and ski in ski out.
If your looking for cheaper then Passo de Tonnale is great in itally very pretty and high plus some good north facing slopes. Buckets of snow this year as well.

Of course the best place for your requirements is Soldeau in Andorra but its quite a long transfer.

I find it hard to belive that anyone with more four years experience would go to Passo Tonale, Strange

Obergurgl / hochgurgl (aka o) will be perfect for your needs, you'll love it!

Easter is 4th april next year.

Enjoy

It is so difficult decide where to head for when you are new to ski holidays

No, it's not, look on the net, find a place you like, pay the money, wait for what seems an eternity, and then enjoy your skiing, nothing too difficult in that, is there ??

I have never been to France skiing before alway skied in Austria. The only thing that worries me is that the runs are going to be a bit "samey". from looking at pictures of the la plagne area there doesnt seem to be much in the way of scenery. just slopes for miles which is a good thing but I dont want it to get boring. Or if someone can tell me different. like I say we will be sticking mainly to blues and greens, might have the odd day over to les arcs (which on looking at a 6 day family ticket between the discovery and the unlimited pass was only a difference of about 80 euro for 4 of us).I am still looking at options but I do still keep coming back to la plagne mainly because of its vast area of blues and cruisy runs

You might prefer somewhere like St Gervais, it's got a more Austrian feel than most French ski stations. A lot of tree lined runs all around that blue standard. Also worth a look is the Grand Massif, there's slightly more challenging pistes there as well but the same amount of tree runs and the possibility to ski between small villages which is quite pleasant.

Yep, grand massif is a great area, I'd recommend it

We only talk about once a month, but for the love of god, a short message to let me know where they are would help.

Same thing happened when I was young, I went to school one day came home to find my parents had moved, left no forwarding address, I was left to fend for myself from the age of 5

I wouldn't mind, would have passed it off as an oversight if they hadn't done the same thing when they moved to Spain 9 years ago!!!

Tino, do you think they are trying to tell you something

Dorset Boy wrote:Like Ian W, I was off school with the flu when Franz K flew down the mountain at Innsbruck in 1976. I then badgered my parents to let me go on a school trip and away I went to Monte Bondone near Trento in Italy (in 1978 or 1979). It wasn't too long before I decided I would do a season, but had to wait until 1990 for that pleasure to come about and that one led to 5 in Meribel. I'm not sure the desire to spend season's has ever been extinguished, but currently happy enough with one or two weeks away seeing my little boy learning.

He was great, I might even go to BKK just because of FK
