Unfortunately we can't accrue toil at my school but I have decided that I will write to the head. As he has approved the other T/A the leave I may as well try my hand too. It is a different week. He can only say no I guess? Watch this space

I am not actually too concerned about cost in general. I don't mind paying for quality. It is just so disheartening when the hike is so massive.

Thanks, lots of useful info. I would possibly fly from Bournemout but Exeter or Gatwick are not unreasonable either. Just myself and hubby. Haven't got any accomodation sorted but have been looking at the tour operators due to overall cost. Have done the driving bit, not really an option. We drove to Morzine this summer, love the resort but such a long way. I may be able to negotiate a day off either side as our headmaster has approved another T/A a weeks unpaid leave in January.....but don't get me started on that one, I am furious!!!! Resort wise I wouldn't mind going back to Pila, we didn't get to ski all of it due to the excess snow a couple of years ago. We are intermediate skiers, not great drinkers, would like a biggish ski area, open to different types of accommodation and a relatively short transfer if poss ( coach sick....) open to all ideas

Absolutely fed up, cheesed off and very disappointed. I need to rant. I work in a school, my choice so I know I shouldn't moan. But really is there any need for the massive hike in prices? It is going to cost me almost a £1000 more whichever way I look at it to go in Feb half term. Disgustingly Easyjet prices go up from £60 RETURN for the 9th of Feb.....to £400 on the 16th. So even if I arrange accommodation, lift passes etc privately the cost is still horrific. I totally sympathise with those patprenst who take their children out of school in term time. If I thought I could get away with I would seriously consider throwing a sicky but I think the goggle eyes would give the game away. Apologies for the moan, I know it was a hypothetical question in the first place. I honestly don't mind paying what I think is a fair price for a decent holiday but these prices are just ridiculous. Moan over, goodnight and a Merry Christmas.
All in one ski suit, is it acceptable?

No.....you will be the butt of the "touch a onesie game" whereby young skiers have to touch a onesies when they pass by. Although I personally think it looks fine.
What do you do on your first day?

Relatively easy first morning, try to get my bearings which is a massive task. I must be the most useless piste map reader on the world. I have absolutely no idea where I am most of the week. Thankfully my husband and daughter do not suffer with my affliction.
