Seems that some snow is forecast Wednesday through to Saturday for the area so fingers crossed there is for us arriving on Saturday. Seem that Sunday is forecast to be fine and dry so if the prayers to the snow gods have been answered it will dump about 2m then by Sunday be cold and sunny! Here's hoping anyhow!
4 days to go. |

Thanks for all the replies this is really helpful. Any ideas on when they generally stay open to? Our flight was changed so we'll not arrive in resort until 8pm ish (all being well and no delays etc).

It's been so long since I've hired any gear that I'm not too sure about this one. I'm new to the forum so sorry if this has been asked before.
There will be some in our party who need to rent skis etc, we didn't take Cyrstals hire package thinking we'd get a better deal direct. Those who need gear will be renting it from the Intersport as it's the only place in resort. Online they are offering half price savings if you book online, the question is are these genuine and should we take them or stick to the plan and pay in store? The online prices were 60-80 euro for skis and boots for beginner and intermediate level. Thanks |

Thanks to all who've replied, all very helpful information so I' think we're about set! Nice to be in the single figure countdown now with 9 days to go!
It's been so long since I hired any gear abroad but know that Intersport have a good rep so it's good to hear that there's a hire shop in 1800. Final question is that Intersport offer pay before you arrive hire deals, are these worth going for to save some Euro's or just wait? I expect the Crystal reps will try to flog hire packages on the bus, if nothing else being able to look on the Intersport website gives an idea of how much they might try and rip us off by! |

There's just the one bar from memory in Les Eucherts a place called Moo bar. Can't remember if there was a happy hour but it was never busy until new years eve. It's not huge but big enough to double up a night club as it has a dance floor etc. We ate out once on our chalet hosts night off, we ate a steak house which was pretty good plus they gave us 2 for 1 drinks vouchers for moo bar. There are a few more bars in le ros centre and a free bus to get you there otherwise it's aprox 10 mins walk. IMHO given the prices etc I'd much rather make my own entertainment as local beer and wine is cheap in the shops (there a small supermarket in les eu) this part of the resort is that small I can't imagine at most you'd be more than 5 mins away from the main les eucherts chair lift. Mist places were ski in and out too.
Don't let the button put you off it pretty flat but about 1.5 miles long. |

Thhanks for the continued warm welcomes. Catching the ski bug is certainly what happened to me, I think what happened with me which is probably pretty common is that I always fancied giving it a go but none of my family were so we did the more standard sunny beach holiday, and unless you've got someone to give you that early introduction to skiing then you don't really get into it until a bit later in life.
Tend to pick the resort best suited to the group travelling so le plagne seemed to be a good fit for beginners and intermediates, while in st anton I'll be a novice compared to most of the others going. |

Sorry it's not a rope tow over to Italy it's a button.

Seems to have had some good recent fall in that area. As for what it's like? Depends your ability and the rest of your party. We went over last Christmas and New Year and chose Le Ros as we had several who had no skiing experience other than some indoor slope lessons, and to that end it was great for our group. We stayed din a catered chalet which had ski in/out and was in the smaller and New Les Eucherts-which is aprox a 15 minute walk into Les Ros centre. There isn't a great deal in the way of restaurants and bars but enough if like us you make your own evening entertainment and venture out on your chalets hosts day off.
Being linked with Le Thulie gives you quite a large ski area to play with but the connection over from Le Ros is a very long rope tow but it's worth it for some interesting skiing and the variety. We had arranged a guide as there is allot on offer but unfortunately a few people didn't turn up so the guide decided not to bother. Many of the longer blue runs were mostly narrow-ish tracks connecting other runs and you really needed to get your speed up when you could to maintain momentum in the flat. It's south facing so as a rule is meant to be sunnier, but when we went we had 3 days of glorious sunshine and 3 of total whiteout. In all we enjoyed our trip as it was ideal for our group. If they every put a quicker transport link over the border to Italy I'd go again. |
