family skiing in Austria

Yo, M_J dude, what or who is a "schickimicki"? That sounds even worse than lap dancing(or better as the case may be).

Mrs Saffer will be checking up on me all the time from now on when we go skiing if there are lap dancing clubs! Normally I am too knackered to even be thinking about anything more than a few jager bombs, and a pint after a day on the slopes.

Back to the thread however, Kitzbuhel should suit, or the Ski Welt should also have sufficient snow, with Kitzbuhel just down the road if not.
Will you help us with a skiing trip to Slovakia?
Started by Cristian2 in Eastern Europe, 3 Replies, discussing Jasná - Chopok
I went to Jasna for two years running. The lift pass does cover both areas, and they are linked over the top of the mountain. They are Jasna North and South not higher and lower. That is the High and low tatras, Jasna being part of the low tatras.

We used www.skiandsnowboardslovakia.com. Ed is the owner, and together with Ruth his girlfriend gave us a brilliant holiday. Check out their website. We flew into Bratislava, and caught the train to Liptovsky Mikulas which is close to the resort, and then Ed picked us up. Get your queries to him. There are also good links on his web site. This is definitely a cheaper holiday than in Austria or France, and the snow is not bad.

Booked my trip!!!!!

So excited! :D Booked our trip to Scheffau for 4th Feb. After a great time in Niederau last season, we decided to go around the corner for a bit more variety. Not knocking Niederau and the ability to move between resorts, but with two families and mixed abilities, we decided to give the Skiwelt a try. Anyway, staying at Chalet Heidi, which seems to be a great place to stay. Must say that I found a lot of place already fully booked for that week, which I know is dutch half term, but even so, very busy already.

Now I start praying for good snow again, all excited like a kid at Christmas.............
Tony, tell us how you do it!!!!!!!!!!!

My costs include EVERYTHING! Spending money, some lessons, beers on the plane, breakfast at Bristol Airport, everything. I have just looked in my wallet, and there is still a 5 euro note. 2995 euros.....

Seriously though, Huwcyn, we booked our flights and accommodation in July.
We, as 2 families, numbering 8 in total, have just come back from Niederau. We stayed at Pension Margit, excellent value for money(Hi Steve, Diane and Heather), and we flew to Innsbruck with Easyjet. We used Four Seasons Travel for the return transfer, which worked out at about 265 euros return in an 8 seater minibus. Holiday total for a family of 4, including carparking at Bristol airport, flights, half board accommodation(did I mention it is great value for money), ski hire, lift pass, transfers and a lot of booze in Bobo's at the end of every day worked out at just under £3000. £750 a head is as cheap as I can get a good ski holiday.
Unplanned Face Planting
Started by User in Ski Technique, 19 Replies
A friend of ours has just returned from France with a broken wrist and a closed black eye courtesy of a face plant executed by hitting a large patch of ice, almost making it across, when suddenly her skis stopped dead. She reckons her helmet, which she was wearing for the first time, saved her from more serious injury.

She was knocked out, and friends had to bodily protect her, because other skiers were hitting the ice and were struggling for control.

She was carted off the mountain, but was okay later in the day. Third day of a weeks holiday. Bummer!!

Another reason I am interested in your previous post.
ICE - how common?

I think that you answered your own question Mrs Evs. You immediately stop, take out a hammer, break off a few chunks and slip them into your gin and tonic!

Seriously, I would also like to know what the better skier suggests.

p.s. I liked your vid, and dont blame Mr Evs for where he points the camera. Its a man thing
