Dear Cazgal
I have been to Niederau and although I think it is a great resort, I would suggest that the Ski-welt (Scheffau am Wilder Kaiser)is probably more suited to your party. We normally stay in Chalet Heidi, however they are fully booked for the half term.(I am going on Saturday) However, there are many hotels and other chalets which may have room. The Ski-welt suits all abilities and they have plenty of snow. Hope you find what you are looking for. Check out catered chalets in all resorts, they are often better value for money |

It makes me almost ill with envy that some people go tomorrow, and I have 22 more sleeps.....! Then I shall be just around the corner from Mordor, in snowy Scheffau. Roll on 4th Feb.

I agree that this has to be one of the most welcoming Forums(fora?) on the web!! It is also the only place I am likely to see someone described as "a corker". Dont you just love the UK

Tony, at the risk of get all kinds of wrath down on my head, we are talking about a womans logic!!!! I have experienced absolute bone wrenching turbulence over the Sahara, and also flying into a small coastal city called East London in South Africa(where a airliner crashed at sea because of the turbulence), but when Mrs Saffer says "NO INNSBRUCK!" then hey, a small sacrifice to keep the peace, or else it will be a large sacrifice, and I will be it!

Unfortunately, I can't take advantage of any special offers from Bristol to the Niederau/Ski Welt area, because they all fly in and out of Innsbruck. Last year we flew out of Innsbruck and the turbulence had quite a few, including Mrs Saffer, in tears.(Obviously I was fine....)
We found out afterwards that pilots who fly in and out of Innsbruck need to re-qualify for that airport every six months. This is apparently because of the mountain ranges all around. Now Mrs Saffer insists we fly in and out of Salzburg or Munich. |

I have just looked at the web cam in Scheffau, and I can now start to sing,"Snow is falling, all around us,............." Yes, yes, yes,!!!!!
I cant believe all you doubters who said it wasn't going to snow. Anyway, many thanks to all who did the snow dance, and here is hoping that everyone gets the snow dump of their dreams the day before they go. I can't believe how excited I am, when I am only going on the 4th of February. :D :D |
