I could wait as sadly my skiing for this year is over except for the indoor snowdome stuff. I am going to Rivington alpine in Horwich near Bolton and having spoken to them I have been told that they never discount ski boots I'm sure many places do but this place comes highly recommended and I dont want to get it wrong so feel inclined to go with a shop where many people have recommended.

Thanks lads,Bandit that really is sound advice you have offered and I will take it. The plan was always to get boots if we got the bug so as you wisely suggest one step at a time is the way to go.out of curiosity do the specialist ski shops have much in the way of end of season sales or do prices remain pretty stable year round. In other words is their a good time to buy ?

As regard to ski's I am looking to pick something up of ebay but havent got a clue what I should be looking for. Can anybody give me some advice on what I need to be looking for. Thanks George |

Having recently returned from our first ski holiday in Passo Tonale I thought I would share our views with you all.
In a word awesome. I cannot believe I have waited so long to get involved in skiing, like many suggested we are both "hooked" I have had many summer holidays and this is up there with the best of them. The resort. As some of you suggested its not the prettiest of resorts, but if you can see past this it has lots to offer especially for beginners. A great and reasonably priced ski school (100 euro for 6*2hr lessons) lots of gentle blue runs to build confidence.Reasonably priced apres ski (dont go if you want wild apres ski parties !! ) The best advice I can give anybody is to invest in some lessons before you embark on your first holiday it will make the enjoyment so much better I had a full day tuition at Chill Factor prior to our holiday and by the end of a weeks ski school was skiing several of the easier Red runs in Tonale. Without the chill factor lesson this simply would not of been possible for me. Fortunately for us we had great weather for the first 5 days and on the last we were introduced to what I've heard so much about but didnt understand (I do now !! ) and that is flat light it totally transformed the ski experience for us but at least I now know what your talking about )To anybody thinking of their first ski holiday. Stop thinking just do it as it is quite simply fantastic. And yes I'm in next year only problem where to go now ??????? still Ive got 12 months to decide :) :) To all of you who still have their holiday to look forward to have a safe and enjoyable trip wherever your off to. |
