Thing I work on most of all, which I find maintains pressure on skis and enables a carve is to keep shoulder line at horizontal as possible, whilst legs are push out at an angle.

Take a look at trenchers avatar, and his shoulder line, as he's sussed it.
La Plagne Villages

You certainly can ski in Plagne Village. It's a little above Plagne Centre, and those coming from the Belle Plagne, or Bellecote side can ski through Plagne Village to get to Plagne Centre.

However, there's a pretty good chance that your ski lessons will start from Plagne Centre. You can ski to Plagne Centre, but there is also the telebus lift to get you there if you don't feel up to it.

The whole area of La Plagne is excellent with lots for beginners.

Have a great time
Ski boots

I'd pay a bit more and buy in resort.

The shop will be able to adjust/tweak the boots during the week to fit perfectly.

Also 7 weeks is getting pretty close to the end of the season, so there could be some bargains to be got in resort.
Ski Kit

Essential part of my ski kit - hip flask. :D

can we put a name to the 'buff/necky type thing'

It's a snood. Essential as well - not just for girls.
Bought a pair of 'moonboots' for first ever ski trip 20 odd years ago, on the advise of fellow travellers. Didn't use them then, and never used them since. Chucked them away last summer as clogging up the loft.

However,,,,,,,,,,,,, would have come in handy this year ( in Val) as snow up past my Cats,in the town
Longest ski run in Belle Plagne/ La Plagne

Thomsonski reckon 10Km, Ifyouski reckon 15Km.

Darned if i've come across either of those two, and I've been there a few times.

There's a piste that goes all the way down to Champagny. From memory I think it's call Foret. It's a long path, and not to be recommended as it's rubbish.

Plenty of superb skiing in La Plagne, and Belle Plagne is the best place to stay.
Chalet Tipping

I reckon that depends on the service you got.

First class chalet maids I would tip 10-15 euros per couple/room, and sliding scale down from there. If the average chalet has 5-7 room, then thats 50-100 euros. Not too bad for doing their job.

Previously had a maid not worth a dime, so that's what she got.

Am I mean?
