If I'm looking for speed then "Nu Metal" gets me going everytime, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Sum 41.
If I'm concentrating on form then I tend to go for Stereophonics or Travis, something about them just seems calming and suits the views of the alps, in my opinion. I've skiied with my iPhone 3G for two seasons now and as long as its in an inside pocket I've never felt it was in any danger. |

I had my anterior cruciate ligament replaced in June 08 and went skiing twice in Jan & Mar 09 absolutely fine.
I didn't feel a single twinge from my knee at all on either week, despite having since found out that the surgery was performed badly and isn't giving me the support I need. I am a blader though so obviously have a lot less snow to disperse, but on my second week I was in the snow park jumping, and still had no problems. I spent £70 on a sports knee brace that stopped my knee hyper-extending (going past fully straight) and limited side to side movement of the joint. The elasticated material it was made up of also gave me extra strength in the joint. I would advise lots of gym work to strengthen the joint and don't go skiing within 6 months of surgery as apparently this is how long the graft takes to bond permanently with the bone. I know you've done more damage than I did but hopefully this'll show that it isn't too hard to come back from. Good luck with the surgery! [MaccA] |

I have been reading the snow reports on here and they were saying that many European resorts had 2 meters already. The context of the reports made it sound like this was significantly deeper than normal.
I was about to delay my 20th Feb trip (not yet booked) to the beginning of March but maybe I'll try to stick with this date  |

Hi all,
does the fact that Europe has had so much snow recently, and many resorts are reporting larger depths than normal for this time of year, mean that a lot more resorts are going to have excellent skiing in March? Or should we still be looking for "snowsure" resorts for March time? Many thanks [MaccA] |

Sorry Paul, didn't see that you put return in the original post.
That is true. When I have flown with Ryanair the experience has not been unpleasant (but I wouldn't call it pleasurable either). However, I don't particularly trust Ryanair due to all the stealth costs you seem to come across when getting to the final "pay now" screen. So, if I can spend another £30 and fly with Easyjet who I've used several times for Ski flights then I'm more than happy to do that. (Plus Easyjet fly from Gatwick which is closer than Stanstead/Luton for me). |

Hello accommodation owners,
I am looking for some accommodation in the Alpe D'Huez resort (not a satelite village) that can fit 8 people. We must have at least one bedroom for two people to accommodate a couple travelling with us. We'd like to avoid using sofa beds so that the living area is free from clutter and people. Ski in/out is our highest requirement, although we'd be willing to compromise if you had something within budget with extra features like large amount of space, sauna or jacuzzi, free ski pass. The accommodation would still have to be close to a piste. We are not interested in paying any more for a catered chalet as we like to experience the local restaurants, but would consider catered if the price still met our requirements. We need one week checking in on the 21st or 22nd of March 2009 and checking out 7 nights later. If you think your accommodation matches these requires and is around £150 per person for the week then I'd love to hear from you. [MaccA] |

Is it only Austrian resorts though?

The problem is, its £10 each way including taxes until you want to take luggage. Then its something like £10 each way for a bag, then another £15-20 each way for ski stuff.
Its still cheaper than Easyjet but by only £20-30 which I don't think is enough to convince me to travel with Ryanair. |
