Too much (photographic) information.

Hope it all gets back to a normal colour soon.

Pole position (excuse the pun)

I hope you weren't facing down the hill all the time! You shouldn't be separating the upper body on long radius turns, for instance.

IS that a serious question or a wind-up? If it's serious, I'll give you an answer.
Isola 2000

My wife and I were in Isola 2000 for the first time a couple of weeks ago, having bought a January timeshare week in the Club Bristol.

The skiing area is not huge compared with Tignes where we went the following week but was perfectly adequate to give us an enjoyable 6 days of skiing on great snow and in perfect sunshine. There is a reasonable variety of runs and I'd reckon it would be great for a beginner with long broad easy slopes along the front of the resort. There were some steep bumps to challenge a bit. Off-piste looked promising but was all skied out and crusty when we were there so apart from one sortie off the track to see what it was like, I didn't do any more (3 awkward turns and my skis went under the crust on the 4th and stopped dead. I of course didn't )

So don't expect L'Espace Killy but equally don't expect Espace Killy prices. Our lift pass was 98€ compared with around 200€ in Tignes (not to mention the 4.70€ for a coffee in Les Brevières). Look forward to a picturesque area, varied but not extensive skiing and pleasant mountain restaurants. Little to no queuing while we were there. The main centre is fine inside with supermarket, bakers, ski shops, post office, newsagent etc but is badly in need of a facelift on the outside.

If you are driving, it is quite a steep and twisty 17kms from the village of Isola to Isola 2000, but not a problem if you take it steadily.

Nightlife? Can't help there. Our après-ski comprises a G&T in the bath, a meal with a few glasses of wine and a DVD if we can stay awake long enough to watch it.

Hope you have a great week

Don't apologise! You gave us a good laugh - just as I gave friends in France a laugh when I was talking about puppies ( chiots) and thought that a female puppy would be une chiotte. As it happens, chiotte turns out to be a very rude word for a lavatory, probably the equivalent of shithouse in English.

'Old' Ski Length vs 'New' Ski Length

What height are you? A rough guess would be to come down 20 cms but that depends on whether you used to ski relatively longer or shorter skis.

Measure your "height" from the end of your nose: that could be about the right length. Maybe a bit less.

Your best plan is to take the advice of whoever is selling or renting your skis.

Well, what can one say? Perhaps it's just an age thing. But never mind, there are plenty of internet sources for helpful pills.

I don't know how much good that will do your skiing, but it sure sounds good. Does the piste move for you?

Seriously, though, I think that confirms my guess that Dshenberger's two ifs are not being met and a professional lesson would be a good idea.
