When did you start skiing
Started by User in Ski Chatter, 41 Replies
I started around 1980 when I was six years old. I spent all weekends and 1-2 afternoons in my local hill for many years. Then I found out that girls are more interesting than skiing. I went to army after highschool, and after that I found out that skiing in more interesting than girls. So I found myself in the backcountries of Chamonix, and oh yeah, I was right.

Ok, almost. Now I ski with my sons who started at the age of four.
I have always stayed in hostels in Chamonix, Verbier, Grenoble, etc. Those are the cheapest one I have ever found. Ok, not exactly, because I go skiing with my son and therefore I avoid hostels in which they have a bar, such as Gite le Vagabond in Chamonix.

I recommend you to check out hostels in which they have rooms for two. We stayed in a hostel like that in last spring in Chamonix and it was great. Quiet, peaceful, good breakfast and very cheap.

heh.. it's a tiny resort newr to my home )
Nice to hear! I wish I was there in Arcs..
Music posts are always good, I love. Heh.. that's it.

I'm more into metal music and especially melodic death metal. Everything from Arch Enemy, Children of Bodom and Amon Amarth goes. When it comes to skiing, I prefer classical and tenors cush as Boccelli, Pavarotti, Domingo, those "mainstream guys". For afterski I prefer Billy Joel, Don McLean and country.

Oh, just forgot power metal. It's great!

ise recommended Sport-Conrad(http://www.sport-conrad.com) on the first page. I agree with him. I ordered Volkl racing skis for my son last year and I paid half of the price than here in Finland. Actually I ordered them to Switzerland while I was there and I saved also VAT :D

Heh.. this is pretty interesting thread. Lots of different opinions. It's like music. If you ask people what type of music is the best, you end up with a good debate :)
