Snowmass is one of my favorite mountains. Absolutely take the guided tour with the mountain hosts. In addition at least once, line up for when they drop the ropes on the noon groomer, take a lap or two and then go for lunch.

From personal experience you cannot go wrong with Big Mountain / Whitefish which is nearby. As for Canada I like central BC better than Whistler dry soft snow and not so large and crazy. Big White is my first choice then Sun Peaks as my second choice. That far north the weather is much better in Feb and March. I have spent a week at Big Sky in late Jan when the high temp was negative 10F for the whole week. Have FUN

I have been going to DV for over 20 yrs so I wish to add my knowledge. The lift tickets are not the most expensive in the US especially when you purchase multi-day passes. The value occurs when you see just how much skiing you get in thanks to short lines everywhere. You can stay anywhere in Park City and use the free shuttle to get to Deer Valley with ease. The town of Park City is one of the best ski towns in the Rockies. Enjoy

Copper is a great all around mountain for on the snow but not much for off the snow. Breckenridge does have a small historic mining town as its anchor so more to do off the snow. It is also a great all around mountain just colder. Aspen Snowmass is also hard to beat,Snowmass being the best for skiers. I am American and I cannot think of anywhere in the US that has the ambiance you find in Europe.

I agree with Keystone, Family oriented and great customer service. Wide variety of terrain which if I remember correctly keeps the different levels on their own portion of the mountain

I have been to Big White twice and love it there. One of the reasons is the European feel to the mountain. They use the natural terrain so well. Not bulldozed slopes like so many in the US. Since it is owned by an Aussie it has a large number of guests from the UK and that makes it more fun coming up from the US where I live.
