The thing is, when I pluck a sachet of food out of the box at random, a bit like a lucky dip, and tell what flavour it is, I don't get a reaction. However, when I tell her in German what it is, she miaows and goes mental. For example:

TH: "Would you like beef?"
Bailey: "........"
TH: "Ok, how about some RIND" (***hoch-deutsch pron.***)
Bailey: "Miaow....miaow....purr purr" doing a little dance around the bowl

Anyone else got any pets that understand different languages?

Have you been for a check up lately

AllyG wrote:Ian,
How did a spelling mistake get into your quote of what I said? (There and their). I haven't tried quoting anyone, but I thought it automatically copies exactly what was said. I can't stand making a spelling mistake myself (I don't mind other people's mistakes - just mine), I have a real 'OCD' type of thing about it.

Ally we all make mistakes even me, mind you I can't remember the last time

AllyG wrote:What I don't get about those toilets, is why they deliberately build them like that, even in the new sports/shopping centre in Val Thorens. Their must be a reason for it.

The only 3 reasons I can think of are
a) they're cheaper to build
b) they're easier to clean
c) their pretty much vandal proof.

Surely no-one actually prefers using them to the 'normal' toilets?

And, if it means that people avoid certain ski resorts/countries for this reason, then I would think that toilets are, for once, a ski related subject.

I love them, what you do is drop your sallos, put the elasticated shoulder straps over the coat hook on the back of the door and sit back and bobs your uncle, mission accomplished
for extra stabilization just take a one handed grip of the shoulder straps leaving your other hand free to..... what ever

Another British con, I passing that way a few years ago so popped in to have look, A: they wanted to charge me and B; I could not get within 20 yards of the thing.....so I left it to the hippies

Spent the first 20 years of my life one mile from Stonehenge. The only time I ever went was to the famous Stonehenge Rock festival in 1976, the year of the heatwave. Absolutely great lasted 2 weeks. Great bands, no-one wore any clothes, those were the days.

I think it is only you and I Rose who remember the heat wave of 76',

Not quite accurate Wickers I remember it  ...Must have been in my pram tho

I reckon you were a lot older than your making out bandit
How did every-one start skiing?

shazzo wrote:Every since I was little I was mesmerised by ice skating and skiing on the TV (since about 1968 then since you ask!) but it was way out of my parents league to go or even pay for me to go on the school skiing trip, so had to make do with the occasional trip to the nearest ice rink about 25 miles away.

First OH would have nothing to do with it (should have know it was doomed from the start!) so my daughter got to ski long before me on her school trips and I was so envious, but shiny new OH is a very experence skier and so I finally got my wish and started skiing about 5 years ago and I justcan't get enough of it. OH thinks I'm slightly unhinged as I read and re-read ski brochures as standard bedtime reading and have at least two trips booked at any one time!

Sounds a bit harsh swopping in your other half cause he didn't like skiing
