Ahh, you see its all about the WAY you say it
I tend to use the word "Schnell" a lot when skiing in Austria, along with "Nein" and "los fahren" obviously used loudly and as formally as possible!!

Which one of your cats is called Potato Head?

Both of them seem to answer to it. I knew it wasnt brains in there!!!!!!!!!

And you called me sad

Where to go end-March

Firstly, there's more to the Zilly Valley than Mayrhofen - look at a piste map and 'google' one of the villages that doesn't appear in an English ski brochure - its quite easy to find a nice hotel that will probably have no other Brits in it at all! We stayed in a great little hotel in Hochkrimml at about 1500m, almost ski in / ski out and linked to the Zillertal Arena. On the downside there is not much skiing above 2500m, but this year that shouldn't be a problem given the depth of snow.

Austria compared to France? No comparison! Better accomodation, BETTER FOOD (!), less crowds, miles better mountain restaurants, overall ambience, on-piste and lift manners etc. etc.

All just my opinion of course!

I agree it's France for me every time

Also getting cartlidge work done a few weeks after i come home from skiing.
Can anyone advise me if im going to be in much pain? Was able to stick it last year but will i be on blues and reds or how will i fair up? and yes im going skiing :)

Being an 'old git' new skier my knee problem was/is degenerative arthritis (old age) and last November I could hardly walk or bend my right knee. I followed a course of muscle strengthening exercises and went on an already booked week to St Anton in January. I feared the worst and expected this to be my last ever trip. My thighs ached, my calves ached, my back ached, my shoulders ached, but not a twinge from the knee. So I cracked in another 'last trip', to Sauze d'Oulx last week. Again no knee pain. So this week I am going to the doc to see if he will prescribe me a monthly ski trip on the NHS as a cure for my arthritis - reckon I'll get away with it ??

There is nothing wrong with being an old git,we should start an old git club

An Old Git's Club sounds good - exclude anybody young enough to pull or tear muscles - only those getting gentle 'strains' - where do you want to set minimum age 55 - or do you want special exemption ?
I'll start a thread.

Well I'll second you as Chairperson

Brucie wrote:Ian, I have never been in Summer, but I have been told that there is sometimes summer ski-ing on the Federia pistes in Livigno itself. You will know the piste, off the back of the Carosello 3000.

I have been several times in summer and I have never heard of any skiing on Federia, but then again I have never asked the question, so it's a possibility, thanks 8)

Tracky B's every time on a long bus journey. Jeans will become annoying.

I don't own any tracky bottoms and my jeans are as comfy as pj's. 8)

So anyway you now know that VC is gonna have rain at 1400 m
