Livigno

If you were prevented from leaving Livigno because of an avalanche you will need to get a written statement from the resort management. If the tunnel was closed contact the owner http://www.engadin-strom.ch/en/index2.php?sprache=en and if you were delayed on the Swiss side the Cantonal authority should be able to provide you with the info you need http://strassen.gr.ch/sites/strassenzustand/zustandsmeldungen.html
Jungfrau or Saas Fee ?

There are also two Best Western hotels in Zermatt, the Butterfly and the Alpen Resort Hotel.

It's quicker and cheaper to use public transport, the Swiss Transfer Ticket costs 130 francs. Car parking in Saas Fee is very expensive and unless you go the long way round via Bern and Vevey (>4hrs) you will have to use one of the car trains, either from Realp to Oberwald (30 francs each way) if you go via Andermatt or from Kandersteg to Goppenstein (27 francs each way) if you decide to go via Bern.
How do you check Ski Bindings?

Kneebindings aren't readily available in Europe. The only shop I know that stocks them is Edge & Wax in the UK http://www.edgeandwax.co.uk/448/kneebinding_ski_bindings.aspx You won't find them in any European ski hire shops as they don't make a rental version. I think they have to be mounted on flat skis; there is a list of compatible skis in their information centre.
Too Much Snow In Europe?

Wot! No mention of Austria, according to the Tiroler Tageszeitung http://www.tt.com/csp/cms/sites/tt/Nachrichten/4111594-2/so-viel-neuschnee-nur-alle-30-jahre-lawinengefahr-bleibt-hoch.csp this has been a once in 30 years event.

The Wildschönau was cut off for the first time in its history! Ischgl and Galtür are still cut off and the roads to Lech, Zürs, Stuben and Klösterle were only opened this afternoon. Sadly a 15 year old youth who was caught in an avalanche at Axamer Lixum on Saturday has still not been found.

I have mine checked on a binding testing machine.

The settings on the binding DIN scale and don't always tally with force required to get the binding to release.
If you're travelling on a Saturday then it should be possible to get a shared transfer for about 35 euro http://www.alpine-transfer-company.com/en/transfers/services If not there's always public transport, bus from the airport to Porto Novo station, train from there to Oulx and then the bus from Oulx to Montgenèvre.

The locals here prefer 'Gletscher Wasser'; home made absinthe with just a splash of water, guaranteed to make you float in powder
How would you do it?

If the weather's ok, have a go at the Matterhorn ski safari on Saturday
http://www.zermatt.ch/en/page.cfm/experience/skiing_snowboarding/matterhorn_ski_safari
Then on Sunday cruise the area you liked the most on Saturday, and have a leisurely lunch in one of the small mountain restaurants http://www.zermatt.ch/en/page.cfm/your_stay/gastronomy/mountain_restaurant

Fingers crossed for sunshine & powder.
