There is always more to a ski resort than just skiing - this is a lovely area, plenty to do off the slopes, or if you had a bad day, nice places to eat, easy access to other transport, and more of a holiday than just skiing, if that is what people want. Quite often there is someone in a group who does not ski, so this area ticks a lot of boxes for many reasons - AND - when the conditions are good - which we found - it is lovely. A friend is currently in a high altitude resort in France and has had to miss a day's skiing because of the bad weather,so altitude does have disadvantages too.

I think you may be over reacting a tad, it is posible a very nice place to go
but for the best snow I feel you need to go higher at certain times of the year

dgou wrote:I have to disagree, altitude is not everything, I was there in 2012 and the snow conditions were superb the first week of March, good pistes and powder most days. It is nature, you can't force it. A very lovely area and I for one would be happy to go back!

I have to agree with TH 8)

I've skied Italy 3 times in recent years.
And while you've had to suffer miserable French people, over priced food, and poor snow, we have been having it off in Austria big styleeeeeeee

Sounds like you had a great time and some seriously good prices

Still tempted to have a go on a board but experience tells me that when it gets flat you are stuffed where the skiers have the benefit of poles. That and the injury stats are double for boarders.

I think the "rivalry" concept is a bit yesterday and slope etiquette has deteriorated all round.

There are so many people who just live in the past -)

Italy here we come .... but where ???

That's very simple Ian - you can both come to Folgarida/Madonna di Campiglio with us for the group trip on Sunday 2nd Feb :)

That fine can you send me the details etc for consideration as the area does appeal to me, it's just convincing Mrs W, as she thinks I am mad enough as it is for spending so much time on here :D

You have that problem too?
Mrs H thinks I'm weird using this forum, and I'd never consider suggesting we spend a week away with a group of people from said forum........ 8)

Hey, can we stop all this talk of Italy next season please?
You'll clutter the place up, turn it into the New France

Don't worry while you all lot have been skiing Austria I have been skiing Italy :D
