Thanks very much for the update on summer in Les Arcs. It sounds a lot of fun :)
Sleeps till ski time

I have just checked my Excel Days Left sheet (that Far Queue made for me), and apparently I've got 212 days/sleeps before I leave for the J2Ski group holiday to Folgarida.

I'm leaving on the Saturday and getting there by train, but the holiday doesn't start until Sunday 2nd February.

It seems an awfully long time to wait :(

Anyway, Glastonbury was excellent, I survived, in fact as I did a fair bit of walking (more than I've done in the last 4 months in total), my leg feels pretty good and much stronger, so I'm quite pleased about that.

6 week check up with consultant next week, hopefully he will agree with me.

Well done for sticking to the exercises Nelly, and I'm glad you had a good time at Glastonbury :)
Best of luck with the consultant!

How did you wreck your elbow? And I totally agree, physio exercises are very boring (and mine hurt as well - I don't know about yours!).

Andy - the problem would be that if one of the sedan chair bearers got stuck in the mud and fell over (like my brother-in-law), then maybe Nelly might get thrown out of the sedan chair and hurt her knee (and get plastered in mud as well!).

Naturally I don't know how much Nelly weighs, but I would estimate that the farm gate we were carrying weighed about 3/4 of a hundredweight, or about 84 pounds (6 stone), and I would hazard a guess that Nelly weighs more than that

I wonder if they supply special wheelchairs for Glastonbury which would be more suitable for the mud. Something like those they have for using on the beach might be a good idea, with balloon-like tyres?

I'm not so sure about that Andy - have you ever tried carrying anything heavy in deep mud?

I remember years ago we were carrying a heavy yard gate through a very muddy field and my brother-in law's boots got stuck in the mud and we all kept walking so of course he fell flat on his face in the mud - I don't think I've ever laughed so much in my whole life

It's been incredibly hot here for the last week - like 24 degrees and too hot to sleep at night

The beaches are packed and the car parks full - luckily our beach is so close that I can walk there :)

Sorry your summer is over Andy, and Brooksy, if it's that hot over there all the time what about sand ski-ing - or is that only for the desert?

I'm just very busy doing other things at the moment. But I expect I will start thinking about ski-ing again once the summer is over ...
