Thanks Andy. I meant access to the slopes from Meribel Village rather than Meribel Centre.

We're accepting that it's going to be busy. Our eldest is now into her last year of GCSE's - no chance of going on holiday in term time.

I've read that the slopes suffer a bit in Meribel due to being south facing? Much of a problem in February or more of a March/April issue?
Anyone stayed in Meribel Village and can provide some insight?

We would be there during Feb half term so I'm hoping access to the slopes would be quieter. Apparently there is a free bus to get to Meribel centre.

We'll be using Eurostar via Moutiers drop off so very easy transfer.
What are the FIVE most common ski injuries?

Damage/injuries to:-

1. Knees

2. Wrists

3. Shoulders

4. Head

5. Hips
We have two sets of wheels/tyres for our Audi. Other than purchasing another set of alloys or steel wheels, the cost is no greater over time. Our local garage charges £15 to swap over and balance at the beginning and end of each winter season.

The additional grip from winter tyres is phenomenal in icy/snowy conditions.

I did the test and mine said 0.22 Mbps upload and 0.49 Mbps download. What does that mean?

It means your broadband connection is crap!!

My test results-

1.82 download

0.36 upload

Not quite as crap but nothing to write home about. When the kids are on Xbox live everything grinds to a halt.....
Travel Insurance Woes & Tips

Our annual travel insurance is provided by our bank as part of a monthly fee that we pay for a package of services.

Just checked and we are also only covered up to £250 for passport loss. I'm sure we could seek alternative cover to increase to say £1,000 but then the premium would go up. There are probably lots of other limits within the policy that look to be on the light side. Also, the 'compensation' for delayed departure is fairly pointless at £100 maximum.

That's not why I have insurance though. It is the 'big ticket' items that are important. Our policy allows £10M for emergency medical expenses and £2M for personal liability.

Icy, get one with a decent engine or you'll be doing about 23mph up any hills you come across.
We're always discussing skiing in our household (apart from the single plank teenage skier who always seems to be board)

I have the Where to Ski and Snowboard book immediately to hand next to my chair in the lounge.
