I'm afraid so. Supposedly a cheap night - we were in the lower part and walked up the stairs past the ESF office. She just had a "quick look" at the menu and next things got out of hand from there.

Just looked at Newcastle and it's £300+. If that's your only weeks then you've not really got any choice but to look for a last minute TO deal - but keep checking to see how much availability there is from local airports!
You can also look at avoiding Saturdays (much cheaper to fly midweek if they do them)but the flights are winding down so may not be available. Worth looking at though as a lot of apartments are more flexible on dates after the Feb and early March peak. |

Sell the car, buy a bike (pedal) and fly Concorde!

It's good to enter "Saloon" with a sense of humour - the safest way. And also being deaf is a bonus.
I hadn't intended going - we set off for the Spar supermarket and one thing led to another and eventually a hefty bill! We liked Belle PLagne though - been there twice and it is a bit quiet but a decent place to stay. |

Thanks for the comprehensive reply - much appreciated.
I'd already heard a few negative things about Niederau but then it seems every other thread on here is about the place so I was intrigued. I might just leave it up to the Gods (i.e. where is cheap in the week up to the 7th March) as the place doesn't sound ideal for learning. Then again we're only going away again this year as the gf wants to try boarding.......it might not be the end of the world if she doesn't enjoy it and decides to stick to skiing. Hm......Niederau it is then  |

The dent in my wallet was 110 Euros for the lady and myself. Did have foie gras and veal though - and well worth it. Definitely agree that Face Nord is a good (cheap) bet. La Cloche(?!) is also excellent! The night club is awful - but you'll probably expect that anyway. |

2 questions if I may?!
1)Are there lots of button lifts? I'm considering Niederau for the week of 7th March to try snowboarding and am a bit concerned as I gather they are a pain. 2) What made you get the ferry that way? I find flying a miserable experience with the budget airlines and think I'd rather drive. From Gateshead it's a long way, but thought it wouldn't be too bad via Calais - did Amsterdam seem a better way to you? Ta |

Well I'm baffled as to why anyone watches Rugby in England or abroad. But each to their own!
