My mum would be proud, bad genes or malnutrition. Am pretty sure knee is aligned as have been in and out of physio, could it be knee brace on that side? Regardless we were not working on knock knee, mainly of trying to ski faster/more dynamic, playing with angles, behavior of upper body and ski contact (for/aft pressures). Video and then watching frame by frame is definitely a good way to relate to what is actually going on. Some new drills to play with today which should be fun for a few hrs.

Your body will let you know when ready. However if someone were to ask me at what point you can ski again I would say when you can skip with rope. If you can do that confidently you have good power and control back in leg.

Yep that looks about as good as life gets for skiing.

Just a short clip from today confirming you can eventually ski again after knee injury. No real offpiste yet, never managed to ski past lunchtime and need plenty of lessons to try and get confidence back and iron out technical flaws. Importantly you will eventually start to enjoy even if confidence is not 100% there yet. Plenty of work to do but making progress.

Definitely a great idea, am using one all year around for climbing and skiing. Only decision to be made is:-
Intermediate layer:- in which case make sure is snug fitting and not too much down/bulk, so fits under ski jacket. The 600 fill on the one you sent link for should be pretty warm, would try to get to a shop and try it on under jacket. Also good to see how small it actually goes. Outer layer:- Make sure fits over ski jacket, but can be better is using for belay jacket as well. If you don't use gloves that come up over your jackets would also be good to see implications of having a bulky layer beneath. Can end up impossible to tuck gloves under outer jacket which will likely lead to cold hands. |

Courmayeur, would allow the better 1/2 to also visit Chamonix and St Gervais which would make for nice day trips. If they like walking then Val Ferret (Courmayeur) to Lavanche would be an excellent way to spend 1/2 a day easy walking followed by amazing lunch. Good news is that Italian side actually has decent food on mountain and or you can ski to bottom so you could meet up easily meet for lunch in Dolonne (5min walk from town). Plenty of options and for you amazing snow conditions.

I would never advocate cancelling a holiday. If you don't like your friends or families company, fresh air, good food, good wine, good coffee and amazing scenery then might factor into equation. If the lowest resorts in France are now well covered up am sure Austria is fine. Plus is you look at forecast, weather is now coming from W and NW vs the SW which has served Italy and Pyrenees so well with snow whilst keeping northern and eastern resorts both warm and dry. SW will blow N France and Austria have no snow. NW will blow and N France and Austria will have snow.
I still strongly believe will be a long season, everywhere in Alps has a base and Feb is looking both cold and snowy. Quite a bit of snow snobery about given last 2 epic years, most resorts are within 10 days of seasonal average and next 2 weeks will likely eliminate this. Skiing is something we do from Mid Dec-Early May so not every run will be pristine, all part of the game. Only way to guarantee pristine is to invest in new cords. |
