Yes Mr H, You should defo go to Les Arc and stay in the Arc En Ciel which is a new Chalet at 2000. You cant go anywhere without your skis.
As for Mileage, the Guy in our Chalet was an expert skier and he said that the whole Paradiski area is a big ask over the week to complete.
Also as someone mentioned the Aguille Rouge from top to bottom is a run that is just amazing (not that I would know before you say it).
It has such a varied amount of skiing for all levels and many off piste runs which in JANUARY 2010 would be excellent for powder.

Ski lessons/passes - La Plagne 1800

My advice would be use ESF and book a two hour lesson for the first day of skiing.
Dont book it for first thing in the morning but for about 11am.
For the first two hours go on the nursery slopes and see what you OH can remember.
This way you can tell the instructor exactly what you are capable of and they will do the rest.

This is what my OH did and she felt it got the best out of the time.
She did need her lift pass though.

MARK JACKSON wrote:thanks stewart for the advice.... is there any other places near to keep skis etc???? rather than the scramble in the morning!!!....did you go with alpine elements?? our chalet is "maxillian". bars stay open late? how much per pint? very pushy i know......... but i cant wait.... i need to know all the info !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!busy lifts?

Mark,

Beer prices in Arc 2000 and 1950 were 6.7euros for a pint.
Coke and coffes 3 euros.
Half Litre of Evian was 5.4euros.

Maxillian was on the same floor as mine.
The view was very good from the balcony. You can down the valley and into 1950.

To be honest, (and I know some people wont believe this) but I did not venture out too much.
Watch the Champions League game between Madrid and Liverpool in Crazy Fox and it was packed out. The karaoke after was quite funny but did not stay long.
1950 is much better but the Cabriolet lift which is free stops running at 10pm and it is difficult to walk back up.

If you are with the kids there is some good exhibition skiing on the Tuesday night from the instructors and there is a bowling alley at 2000 too.

There is no where else to keep you skis and they moan like mad if you carry them back to your chalet.

Lifts were busy on the first few days but quietened down after the french holiday finihsed.
Depending on your skiing ability there is plenty to ski just getting the Les Arc pass for 203 euros but if you are of the higher ability then the Paradiski Pass is also worth it as I was told there was some super skiing in La Plagne.

Anyway, have a superb time.
