Rose,
Sorry, you'd better not tell him, I'd hate to hurt his feelings. It was a very impressive looking outfit, I just didn't know who/what he was. I'm not a Star Wars fan myself, but I used to be very keen on the old Star Trek with 'Spok' etc., and in fact I took my kids several years ago to see the exhibition in the Science Museum on Star Trek - it was really good (and they did have some people wearing HELMETS - the subject of this thread I believe). Rose,
Who's he supposed to be? (I'm not very good at guessing these sort of things), Ally |

Pablo,
Don't try and ski like Shane McConkey, look after yourself :!: Have a good time, Ally |

Thanks Pablo,
That's incredible ski-ing! He does look like the stunt man for James Bond, but it looks awfully dangerous. Poor him, dying like that. Ally |

Tony,
I'm sure I wrote quite a bit in another thread about a very bad Bulgarian ski instructor my daughter had during her first ski holiday. We have had good and bad French instructors, and I think myself it just depends on the person, never mind whether they are French, Austrian, Bulgarian or whatever. The instructor for my daughter's teenage class in Val Torens last month managed to ski backwards down a black run so that he could watch his class following behind him (and I would say the teenagers were probably going pretty fast), which I reckon is an amazing feat. She thought he was an excellent instructor. Another factor to consider is that some instructors suit one person better than another (as in teaching generally). I totally agree that we all have different ways of learning, and some of us like more theory and some of us like to follow and copy the instructor. I do best with imagery - like 'imagine you're holding a steering wheel' or 'pedalling a bicycle' or whatever. P.S. How did this subject get into where to go - end March? Am I wandering off topic again? Ally |

Did he do ski stunts for films? I'm afraid I've never heard of him before. How sad for his family - and he was so young!

That's great news Caron, I bet you can hardly wait to get back on skis again. You must have worked very hard at your physio - I know what it's like, I had to do 3 hours a day of physio at home to get my broken shoulder better. And I expect you had to put up with a lot of pain as well.
Well done, Ally |

Best of luck everyone with all your knee injuries, and I hope you all fully recover and get to ski for many, many more years,
