Thanks Pablo,
Yes, it was George Best, and I remember being annoyed because he'd had a liver transplant and then wasted it by continuing to drink. It must have been heartbreaking for his family and friends.

My husband and I both have/had relatives who drank far too much/alcoholics and now I don't drink any and he drinks very little (like a couple of glasses of wine at Christmas).

I'm glad to hear you don't drink much. I wouldn't have thought students could afford to drink these days, it's incredibly expensive especially if you drink out in the pub. When I was a student one of my female friends used to drink 10 pints per session - I wonder if she's had a liver transplant yet :?:

Caron and Bandit - I hope you both have a marvellous time, and take some photos to show us later,

Ally
Rose,
Thanks for the tip re solvent cleaner. The stuff I was using was probably something like that - the carpenters gave it to me - but it was still quite a job. I didn't know your hubby fitted veluxes, if he was a bit closer he could have done mine. We've done 3 now, and we need to do another 3 plus possibly a couple of sun pipes/light tubes.

Pablo - I think you should give up the alcohol and become tea-total like me, before you wreck your liver like that guy that used to play football - I've forgotten his name but I'm sure you know who I mean.

Goff,
Thanks very much, I'm O.K. with the parrots now, what about you? (I have had a lot of difficulty with this lately - I'm always getting it wrong and it's very embarassing).

Ally
Ise,
Thanks for the info. But I bet you still have to be pretty fit to carry that lot :D

Goff - I think budgies are even harder to sex than rabbits - male or female please?

Ally
Ise,
That's amazing, walking/climbing all that way at altitude wearing ski boots and carrying skis. I get exhausted walking 100 yards from my apartment to the nearest lift.

And the photos are fantastic. Thanks very much for putting them up for us,

Ally
Pablo,
Why do you wish you'd never started this thread (re change of title)?

I think it's a very good idea, because if people wander 'off piste' on the other threads they can just transfer here and carry on, and keep the the other threads clear of highly interesting, but irrelevant to ski-ing, material.

Pablo,
You could go and get a bit of the snow and put it in the freezer and save it until next year - that's what my younger daughter does when it snows here. If your freezer is big enough you could even make a miniature snow garden, with a tiny Pablo on skis whizzing down the miniscule piste.
