Pablo,
I got injured like that once, in a rugby match, and the vein swelled up at the side of my knee, and years later I had a lot of trouble with it when I was pregnant (lucky you're male - - and unlikely to have that particular problem). And I ended up with superficial thrombophlebitis after the baby was born, followed by cellulitis (unable to walk for 3 months) and eventually had the vein out. So, be careful. It's surprising how relatively minor injuries can cause trouble years later. Maybe you should stick to something nice and safe, like ski-ing  Ally |

Tino,
That's very interesting that you work with medical implants. I have a very expensive dental implant, £2800, and so far, after one year it seems very successful. But, a couple of weeks ago, I got a gum infection next to the implant and had to go on a high dose of antibiotics to clear it up. It seems that this is a common problem with dental implants - something to do with the gum not behaving 'normally' next to the implant, and I have to keep my mouth super duper clean all the time. I was so stressed out with worrying about getting everything ready for the holidaymakers that I think I slipped up a bit with my dental hygiene. My mouth is O.K now, and the implant seems to be fine. I think it's a very worthwile job, helping people to get the implants they need. If it wasn't for the work some people did designing my titanium implant I would still have a big hole in my mouth where my tooth was pulled out, and I wouldn't be able to eat properly, and I'd feel ancient. As far as I'm concerned, the risk I took was that it would fail and I'd waste all my money. Ally |

Last night I was:
Helping the 'sky man' sort out the problem with 3 of the tellys in the various houses, Cutting down a big tree branch to improve the sky reception and then cutting up the branches with my husband and carrying them away (still using only one arm) and sweeping up Cleaning and sorting out stuff Telling the builder what to do the next day Watching casualty on telly Cooking and washing up Sleeping Today I have been: Cleaning off stable doors ready for staining Out for lunch Staining stable doors and oiling oak antique table for a patio table for the holidaymakers. Was supposed to do the 'Race for life' in aid of Cancer Research, but decided I had too many things to do and I'd give them a donation instead. Ally |

Dave,
Taking it away from the thread again - my speciality it seems  - that was very kind of you to help the poor cleaning lady. They don't really give us long enough to get the places cleaned in between lets. With our agency we only have between 10 a.m and 3 p.m., and if it's very dirty it's practically impossible to get it done in the time. I could really do with an extra half a person to use in cases of emergency. What I usually do is ask my daughter to give me a hand for an hour or so. My problem yesterday was that I couldn't get rid of the builders. The carpenter was here the day before re-making a sash window and doing shelves, and he even wanted to come the same day as the holidaymakers to put weights and sashes in 3 of the windows, but I said 'no' that was too much, and I'd just tell them not to open those windows unless they did it very carefully or they'd get their fingers chopped off. My daughter was in school (Friday changeover day) and my husband has hurt his back carrying stuff for me, and luckily I was rescued by my daughter's friend's mother, after I sent out an S.O.S. message. Or I would have been about 4 hours late finishing. Congratulations to everyone who tried to do this particular quiz. It sounds very difficult. Ally |

Well,
On the subject of quizzes, I've just finished cleaning the farmhouse for our visitors. I was an hour late, and they arrived on time so they had to sit there while we cleaned around them. I just hope I don't get any complaints about this. They seem nice people. Sorry, I'm not doing any quizzes. I'm too tired. I've had very little sleep all week because all I've been doing is painting and cleaning etc. Ally |

Eljay,
Someone is anyway. Listen to this: 'It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.' (First sentence of Pride and Prejudice, a book about the Bennet family, who live in Hertfordshire). Ally |
