2010 Gear Test Camps - Autumn At Tignes
Started by User in Ski News, 75 Replies
My name is not Joanne, Ian.

But I do admit to being the one who contacted her about the gear test camp in Tignes. My daughter wants to go. I still have to fix the global warming/sick in a minibus problem though.

Is anyone else going, and hiring a car in Geneva? I'm O.K. in a car as long as I can sit in the front. I'm also O.K. in a minibus in the front, but I don't suppose I can specify this as part of the deal, because they might have another customer subject to car sickness.

And I can 'fix' the global warming problem by turning off our one radiator and putting on an extra fleece (or my ski clothes I suppose), or doing the shopping on my bicycle, or having a shower all year instead of a bath (I hate showers!).

On another totally unrelated subject, which isn't worth a thread on its own, my daughter was at the Royal Welsh Agricultural show yesterday, and she says the tug of war teams were wearing ski boots, to help them grip.

What has radio rentals got to do with trying to decide which ski resort to pick? I'm not complaining about this thread going off piste, I'm just totally lost off piste, and it will be dark soon.

I have been to Zell am See, and I would say the only worry is whether there is enough snow, because it's rather low. I think St Anton is more snow sure.

Nelly,
I know I'm a bit out of touch with things - but where are you going?

I looked at a few agencies and the cheapest I could find was about 350 euros per week - but it wasn't a 'roomy' apartment - it was 25m squared. There are lots of agencies and I only checked a few.

I know where the ski instructors stay in Val Thorens - because there were two lots of them on the same floor as us. We were staying in a cheap 2 star apartment block. I expect this is the sort of place the other workers stay in as well. And I also saw some workers going home on the bus, with us, when we went back to Moutiers. They probably do a cheap seasonal pass on the bus. And I should think accommodation would be much cheaper in Moutiers.

What a marvellous idea! I wish someone would book our holiday cottages for the entire season, and I'd have Fridays and Saturdays off from cleaning!

I reckon it would be worth at least a 10% discount, maybe more depending on their usual occupancy rates.
