Thanks Dave.
I'll look into Edale.
Jan 2010 I got a few days in Lyme park....a couple of small jumps at the bottom of the hill was nice :)

I agree with that Rossy. Who were you referring to re the London based person? Can't see anything like that on this thread?

That's just the Met office, no??

haha...
Fair play.
Any riding to be had in Wales?
I made a kicker in my local park and had two days of jumping around like a look last winter. Not bad for Manchester haha.
Suprising where and when you can board (or ski?), with a bit of imagination :)
How young can you start to snowboard?

I have seen children as young as 8 on a board.
But I think, (gievn the amount of strain on the knees), that 10+ is a better age.

When learning I found a decent pair of wrist guards, knee pads and padded shorts invaluable for both confidence and minimising bruising.
...it will also given them confidence when they are learning to do controlled stops. IE - If they get too much speed up, they can just drop onto their knees without any damage.
Good luck with it all....
They'll have more fun on a board.. lol

arg!!
Happy memories of 1850, Meribel, Val T and LaTania last year, just came flooooooding back.
Nice pics and good skills!
Looking forward to joining in the festivities after new year, fingers crossed (and work allowing!!)

Broom - I can be on the French piste in half the time I can get to Scotland. ...and for half the price.
That isn't the point. I've been there before: I want somewhere new: and as specified in my first post, I have work commitments in the UK.

Emma - Thanks for the link :) Appreciated!
So if you're not local UK, where are you?

Hello all.
I'm pretty new to this forum and wanted to say hello to some local crew.
I'm from Manchester, England and due to work commitments, I won't be doing much abroad this year.
I will, however, be trying to get to Scotland a couple of time.
First time up there for me will be 16th December, hopefully for a week.

Any suggestions for a Scot slopes newbie?
Places top read, hints on public transport etc would be much appreciated. (it seems like one of the things where it's "easy when you know how", but at the moment i'm hitting a few dead ends via google)

All the best and thanks in advance :)
