Thanks Ian, I will give it a go on our return from Obergurgl as they have been waxed Today. I will read up and give you a shout if needed.
Ian, good idea with four skiers in my family. I will have a search around and get back to you over the next few days. I think, off the top of my head, I will need wax different types for snow and temp conditions, Iron, scraper and file for the edges. There is also something to fill scratches before waxing. If I get stuck, can I PM you for advise?
Esrg, fingers crossed its looking good on Cairngorm Montain - Snowing with more forcast over the next week.

Yes it counts, place them near the TV and you can look at them to your hearts content :D A spray of Mr Muscle window cleaner brings the natural shine back

freehandjunkie, Its coming.
Jastem, I think its safe to get your skis prepared and packed with your poles. Check your boots etc. If you don't have your own kit and rent you could start to pack an item a day :D

Ian, yes it makes sense to DIY, you get the satisfaction of doing a good job and your wallet remains bulging. Perhaps you could run a ski maintainace course for us. Now where's that Iron :D
Thats good news Jastem  Just back from S&R 4 pairs of skis now waxed free of charge. Nice saving but purchased a Giro Ember helmet and a pair of nice Gor-tex Hestra gloves for the O/H. Saved £32 but spent £150 ouch
Ir12daveor, yes its looking good lets keep our fingers crossed for a great season
