I recognise that :D multi day stuff (my thing) the problem is toilets, to be fair it can be a bit basic but you get issues with them not drinking to avoid the toilet

you'd definitely look daft if you went in high heels and plastered with makeup :D seriously, when you're working teenage girls and trying to get them not cart makeup around the world the last thing you want is the link teacher to turn up like that and spend their time SMS'ing friends :D

it'll be good, my friend there is a fantastic leader and instructor, one of the best I've ever met

amanda n wrote:children are you joking, when you get passed the make-up hair styles and bravado i suppose so, yes a 2 hour night watch you never know better safe than sorry.

i hoping all the activities wear them out. prior to boo boo's

your chances of being hurt are pretty much non-existent doing the activities, in risk terms you're greatest danger is from transport, roads and unsupervised water activities.

and the bad news, most kids take at least one night and often two before total exhaustion quietens them :D add altitude and it's quicker :D add trying to race me and it's around 20 minutes :D

Now that's interesting, taking my mum (73) to the Dolomites next year when we go.... I thought winter walking and maybe some snowshoeing would be her limits....

that sounds OK to me :D there's no reason with the right instructor that someone would not be able to acquire some ski skills but you really have to ask if it's worth it or not. How many lessons and how much time does it take to actually acquire skiing as a movement skill for someone with a few more years? The answer is quite a long time and there's a lot of potentially adverse outcomes in terms of injury and fatigue. If someone has a driving urge to ski then they should pursue but otherwise there's no good reason to push someone towards an activity simply because we enjoy it ourselves. Snow shoes or Nordic walking in the winter mountain environment are things that take maybe a couple of hours to develop a movement skill for and are exercises better suited to older people, in the case of Nordic Walking it's something that can provide a continuing interest back in the UK.
