Package Deal or Compile own holiday?

I think the overall costs may be a little more expensive if you book through a company but they do have the advantage of the "bulk buy" and you get all the little things like transfers built in. What you do not get , as you point out is the flexibility of going when you want. This year (week defore Xmas actually) a group of us are of to Sauze D'Oulx, self organised and have got the 6 day trip (4 days sking), half board, lift passes anf ski hire down to £500. Travel is via Easyjet to Paris and TGV to resort. You just need to look around an choose somewhere with a station or airport really close. Seems to me the train allows a good party en-route!! (and its only 4.5 hrs)

Makes you 21 then Ian
Cricket, badminton, bumming around the beaches of Cote D'or with a fishing rod and ...of course the odd pint. Life is tough
Suncream...at least factor 30, lip balm, sunglasses , goggles, prob 2 pairs of gloves, LOTS of socks, two or three thermal layers before your ski coat (you can always take them off but if you havn't got them you can't!!), Paracetamol, Ibrophofen, whisky, and lots more as you become more experienced.
Beware Backpacks and Chairlifts!!!

A young 14 year old boy from Torquay on a school ski trip is VERY ill having been hung by his rucksack at half term. Apparently it got caught in the safety rail as it was opened for exit.....it slid up his back got caught around his neck and strangled him as the chair went back down. I have heard a rumour that the ski lift operator was asleep so was not able to stop the chair immediately. The lad was dead when they eventually cut him down but he was resuscitated and then put in an induced coma. His parents brought him back to the UK last week. Very sad.
Skiing in Les Sybelles/Le Corbier

Hi

I went to Le Corbier in December with Rocketski. Really cheap...£310 plus pass and skis. Resort is really OK my main gripe being the flog by button lift to get to the other two resorts. Also getting back in low snow conditions means retracing your steps with one one way back from each of the other two sites. Other than that is was great value and would go again. Basically very French with a few Dutch and German folks but most people DO speak english. Beer and food prices not bad for France.
