Hi Stink, you can get a discount of at least 20% on ski and boot hire by booking through our partner SkiSet and using the discount code j2ski - just go to this address:-

www.j2ski.skiset.com

Select France and then "Manigod" as the resort - that will allow you to select Val Sports in Manigod / l'Etale. If you select "La Clusaz", you can choose between two shops in the centre of town but - from your description - it sounds like you'll be within walking distance of the Manigod / l'Etale shop.

Hi Claud, one of our data feeds (including the Andorra forecasts, and many of our other Euro locations) is currently stalled. Our provider is looking into it at the moment - hope to update later today. Sorry :(

Iceman - for once a year you are best off renting; you can hire the best gear each year and don't have the hastle of extra baggage (and costs) if flying.

With good discounts for pre-booked hire (see above!), and hire shops that offer much better levels of service than a few years ago, owning skis only becomes economically sensible if you are able to ski several weeks a year and service them yourself.

Another big plus for renting is that almost all hire shops, depending on the package, will let you swap skis during the week - so if conditions change or you want to just try a different ski, then you can.

Good hire shops will also happily service your skis overnight should they need it during the week.

But Pavelski is right... search your feelings, you know it to be true... to ski is your destiny... and one week is not enough... 8)
Transport to Courmayeur

Hi Noddy,

Take a look at the Airport Transfer prices through one of our partners :-

Airport Transfer from Turin Airport to Courmayeur with Transfer Intelligence

Alternatively, if you fancy driving, Holiday Autos usually give good prices on Car Hire.

Both the above support j2ski with commission on sales.

Cheers,
Title says it all - we have reports of heavy rain in the valleys this morning, in numerous locations, with temperatures forecast to fall rapidly over the next 48 hours for the Northern half of the Alps.

Current forecast is for the Northern Alps to get snow throughout this next week with the Freezing Level staying below 1500 metres until the weekend. The Southern Alps may not be so lucky but it is precipitating heavily in Serre Che this morning.

Eye witness reports from anyone on-the-spot gratefully received... :?:

And from all of us on the J2Ski Team - wishing you all a wonderful New Year and some great skiing still to come.

Wherever you are - have a great one!

From this mornings data refresh it looks like the cold air may get a little further into the Alps - and bring the snow line down to 1,000 metres for the Northern French Alps, the Valais and a few chosen spots in Austria and Italy. The areas around Mont Blanc are sitting pretty we reckon. 8)

Here's hoping anyway - all eyes on the web-cams as it should start tomorrow.

Fingers crossed for a Happy New Year!
