Looks like a week for "fair weather" skiers in Europe.
Sunny weather will predominate over the European Alps for much of this week, with the zero line likely to be around 2,000 metres in many areas. Expect things to get a little slushy lower down, although most resorts have a good base now and mid to upper slopes will continue to give great skiing under blue skies. Looking further out, temperatures should fall toward the end of next week with a chance of some precipitation - but that's too far away to call with any certainty just yet. |

Hey Pav, great post - thank you for the kind words in there, but just one thing...
I don't think souldrive has quite hit 50 years yet... well he doesn't look it from the picture anyway... Hey, I just realised the absolute best reason for wearing a helmet when skiing - no-one will have a clue how old you are! |

Christmas 2010? Some of them are probably already booked... 8) But seriously, it's probably worth your bumping this to the top again a little later in the season. All the chalet owners will be mad busy in the run-up to half-term and the (early) Easter break right now, so probably won't be thinking too far ahead. |

Buy them at night! 8) |

Hi Adele,
We need to think very carefully about this. Every tragedy on the mountain is a crushing loss for all involved, and the feelings (and privacy) of those left behind must be uppermost in our considerations. To find condolences on your loss, perhaps from complete strangers - but kindred spirits, can be comforting I'm sure... but there is another side. Sadly it is human nature to be judgemental, and to jump to conclusions, and discussions of tragedies (skiing and otherwise) in public forums are often blighted by insensitive comments that can be very hurtful to those involved. For the moment I'm going to lock this thread; if anyone has any strong feelings, either way, I'd ask them to send me a Private Message and we'll come to a resolution. With regard to the particular tragedy you mention; it is, indeed, something that could easily happen to any of us. I'm sure I speak for all of us, who contribute to j2ski and the wider snow sports community, in saying that our thoughts are with the family and friends affected. |

No offence taken... "pimping" to us is when people promote their own services, or websites, in an overhyped fashion (or, as sadly happens quite regularly, by registering multiple accounts and placing false recommendations). Absolutely no problem to report good service or bad. You raise a good point though; it's always better to place reports of poor service in a context that leaves the offender with room to respond. Mistakes do happen and the majority of businesses will be keen to resolve an issue to the customer's satisfaction. |
|
<cough>Ahem ...pimping gets your posts deleted and your account locked... Genuine recommendations of good service are always welcome... keep it real, folks... 8) |

Hi Glyn, allow me to give a partisan view... 8)
This is j2ski's third season working with SkiSet as our Ski Hire partners and, in our experience so far, they're extremely reliable. Of course, it's difficult for a network of 600 shops to be perfect, all the time, but we know they're very responsive to any service issues. I'll bring their attention to your comment about the helmet booking checkbox (though I've just tried this myself and it seems to work for me). As well as the basic 20% discount, at the moment you'll also benefit from the 7th day free if you're staying for a week. If you (or anyone else using SkiSet) do have any comments at all on the service you receive, please feel free to send me a Private Message and I'll make sure it gets addressed promptly. |
