If value is what you crave then forget the peak weeks and go for the 3rd January. For that week you can be pretty sure there'll be late availability so well worth your waiting a bit to see where and when the snow falls.

Nah. These days they wrap glaciers in tin foil so you can be sure any snow in the summer is just being air-brushed by the local Tourist Office... 8)

Hmm, now I'm confused - just got in from a bike ride in probably the warmest temperatures since, er, I can't remember. What's that all about then? Not complaining though... very pleasant.

From comments on snowheads, Ski Esprit and Ski Total were both using XL but have both now re-booked their clients onto Jet2 - so fewer seats free with them then. And with both easyJet and RyanAir having trimmed routes already... the ferries could do well this winter if the tunnel doesn't get fixed.

To add to the comments above, I believe Visa Debit cards also provide protection (other debit cards don't) so you can book with those and shouldn't incur the extra "credit card charge" for certain big orange airlines... but check your particular card's conditions to be sure.

Now we've sorted that out - who's going down it (head) first?
