Simon, on red piste 11 (which goes down from the Orso Bruno towards Marilleva) with a great view behind him :)

If you watch that video of us ski-ing, carefully, you can see Paul testing the depth of the powder with his ski stick - and it goes all the way down!

Thanks Paul for posting that up :)
That was definitely the most exciting ski-ing we did all week - and look - no crowds anywhere! ;) |

La Rosiere is in the sun, so it can get slushy, but La Thuile holds the snow better and is the better area for the more advanced skier/boarder.
And as Daved says, they shut the link when it's windy and it's an incredibly long way around by road in the winter between La Rosiere and La Thuile because the pass is closed. Friends of mine nearly got stuck in La Thuile (twice!). I should think it would be a bed and a breakfast job if you got stuck  |

Well yes, I could see them, that's why I was rather confused when you said you'd lost the rest of the pack. You can't miss Ian's yellow jacket and bobble hat ... |

Thanks Paul :) Oh well - that explains it then. That red 10 is the connecting piste from Folgarida down to the boundary with Madonna di Campiglio, and the Genziana express takes you up the other side into the Madonna territory. That's where Daved's son was when he fell and got buried in the snow, in the photo I posted up. It's comparatively difficult and it does get very busy at times! So there's none of our gang in that video? Except you of course ... |

That looks horribly crowded Paul! I don't remember it being as bad as that when I was on it. Was it rush hour or something?
And is that the home blue run number 2? I can remember belting down that with hardly anyone there at all! It's a good job you came ski-ing with me - we didn't get stuck in crowds like that! :) ;) Thanks very much for posting it up :) |
