Interesting... but how do you book "on the net"? All I can see on their site is a phone number to ring - do you have a link for the £40 discount?

(still good prices though...)

amanda n wrote:hi any advice on buying new skis?

Try before you buy! As a "progressing intermediate" you need to be looking for a capable ski that's going to allow you to progress. TBH I'd recommend hiring - and taking the opportunity to try out different models and types of ski, talking to the technicians in the hire shop, etc. - until you really know what you want / need.

amanda n wrote:does the length really matter

What a question...

But, yes, it matters hugely - modern skis have such varying width and flex characteristics that it's not possible to decide what length is right until you know the ski you'll be buying.

In general, the fatter the ski, the shorter the length you need, but there are plenty of exceptions with some modern fatties that folk seem to like to ski long (for some reason my mind has a picture of Ross with an Aircraft Carrier strapped to each foot... but I digress...).

...next time you're out, book a hire package that lets you change the skis and work your way through their stock... 8) ...talk to the guys in the shop, tell them how and what you ski and see what they recommend.

That'll be the problem then... I wondered why packing my boots was so hard; I just need to take my feet out of them first...

But back on-topic... get one of those wheely bags with a boot compartment - mine just about tips 20kg when full (including the boots) and is almost always the only bag I need to check in.

If you do use a separate boot bag make sure it's a strong one (boot bags are often used as promo items and some are little stronger than a Tescos carrier bag). Wrap the boots with fleeces etc so they're well protected, use a padlock and mark the bag so it's unique.

Your boots (assuming you've spent some time getting ones that fit you perfectly) are very valuable - take care of them!

Wait... 8)

First week in March is a quiet time and there will be availability just about everywhere, so you should be able to get a good price nearer the time - and you can wait and see what the snow does.

You can rate each Post from 1 (Poor) to 5 (It Rocks)... the stars under your name are the average rating of all your posts.

It's just a bit of fun so don't take it to heart if someone rates you down; although we (us moderators) can see who has rated which posts...

Yep, ours too... and our baby buggy emerged from a third location; with two other flights arriving around the same time it was chaos.
