burning thighs after about 30 to 40 mins of skiing
Started by Bignick in Ski Fitness, 133 Replies, discussing Niederau and St. Anton am Arlb...
I suffered from serious thigh pain for the first couple of holidays but managed to improve my technique thereafter. i would hate to have stayed on that particular lower intermediate plateau.

Managed to ski from 9 to 4.30 every day last week (with, of course, stops for chocolate chaud and the like!)

i think about technique most of the time when skiing. Part of the challenge and fun.....

Will be having proper daily lessons on our next trip in March.
They've been bombing here this morning (val d'isere). sunny day as well so everyone will be out looking for fresh tracks

Wow!! what a day

Snowed all night and all day and still hasn't stopped. Still windy but not too bad. The link to Tignes was operating again.

Pistes were very lumpy and bumpy by the end of the day but generally really soft conditions. Much quieter and colder on the Solaise side and edges of the pistes there were relatively untouched powder which was good fun. Visibility was not great but a little better than yesterday.

about -3 in the village, -9 at the top of the Olympique and possibly colder again at the top of the glacier lift. definitely a 4 layer day!

It should stop snowing over night and tomorrow is predicted to be sunny and calm.

anyone coming out next week should get great conditions.

Strange day today. Cold this morning and then it warmed up to the extent that it was sleeting at village level (1850m!). Snowed all day from 2,000m up though and is still snowing now. On and off piste should be great tomorrow. Hopefully the link to tignes will be open again. Very strong winds at times with short periods of virtually zero visibility. Like being in a cold sandstorm!
Merry Christmas Everyone!

Flight and transfer all on time. Even got out on the nursery slopes for an hour yesterday afternoon.

Had a full day today. mainly blue skies and very little wind. About 0 degrees in the village and -6 at the top. Very pleasant conditions. On piste snow is generally holding up well. In a few areas of heavy traffic (top of Borsat, Verte run above La folie Douce and also lower down) a few stones have appeared and the occasional tuft of grass. Good job the snow is arriving today.

We didn't ski La Face but apparently it was a combo of soft moguls and scalped sections. Piste L is shut although Santons was open. Triffolet also shut.

Slopes pretty quiet other than main intersections and 'motorway' runs like Verte. No queueing for the lifts.

Heading over to Tignes tomorrow.

It looks like Wed is going to be very snowy and windy. Could be interesting!
Travelling today? Take care...
