Well, as long as you avoid Tignes in October half-term, and Courchevel next Feb half-term, you should be safe enough for another year anyway  Ally |

Thanks everyone for the jokes, please keep them coming :D
What a good idea, Dids, nicking them off the internet  Here's one I nicked - reminds me of my morning instructor in Courchevel: Q What's the difference between God and a ski instructor? A God doesn't think he's a ski instructor  Ally |

Tony,
I was asked, like you, to take a small kid up a chairlift in Obergurgl. I checked with the instructor that he was actually okay to get off on his own, but at the top he skied over the top of my skis and we both fell over and he hit his head on the wooden wall at the side (luckily he had a helmet on) and his instructor was in the chair behind, saw the whole thing, and helped to pick us both up. Fortunately she didn't blame me. And the worst of it was, it turned out he was staying in the same hotel as us, and he was all chatty and friendly and introduced me to his parents afterwards  So, taking unknown kids up on a chairlift does have its problems ... Innsbrucker,
Don't do it! It looks much too hard to me. I remember you said you thought you were about the same level of skier as me, after you saw my U-Tube video, and I wouldn't go down that. It's the fact that it's so narrow that puts me off - you'd have to make masses of short turns to get down that, or side-slip the whole way  And it's dead straight, with no breaks in it to have a little rest, or make an emergency run off to the side (like a runaway lorry). I can't remember if you said you've ever had a serious ski-ing injury, but I have. I couldn't use my right arm for 6 months after I broke my shoulder, and ski-ing something like that at your level of expertise is just too risky, in my opinion. So, if I was you, I'd go and find a piste a bit easier :D With a bit of luck you've got years of ski-ing ahead of you, so you've plenty of time to improve sufficiently to get down that piste without risking your neck (or the neck of others below you). Best Wishes, Ally |

Brimster, That's really funny, I'll have to try and remember that one  I can just visualize ten ski instructors supervising me replacing a light bulb - I'd never manage it at all, with ten of them watching me  Ally |

Thanks Snapzzz,
That was very funny :D Does no-one else know any ski jokes? How sad  I'm afraid what makes me laugh when I'm ski-ing are what you might call situational jokes, which simply aren't funny when they're out of context. And, also they tend to be very long shaggy dog stories and I don't want to be accused of wibbling again. Ally |

Thanks Eggman and Gary,
So, if you want to ski in the Megeve area, but you don't want to pay a high price for food and accommodation, which part is the best to stay in - St Gervais? It was like that in Courchevel. 1850 is ultra expensive, but it's only a few minutes ski/gondola ride from 1550 which is much cheaper. Ally |

Dave,
Does Admin know who rates what star grading? And thanks for telling us that you approve of the star rating system :D I think the more opinions we get on this, the better. Ally |
