Thanks everyone for your replies, I will speak to her today and maybe look at taking her to Castleford for a lesson or 2.

Think I might try skiing myself next year, I would try this year but have new snowboard gear that I have only used in this country so want to give it a proper run out, but next year could be the year i try 2 planks and not just one.

Guys, many thanks for the quick replies. Half day lessons sounds a good idea for her. I will try and persuade her to give it a go.

Hopefully she will enjoy it and be skiing with me by the end of the week.

Anyone recommend any good schools or hire places for her to use?

Also having never been to Chamonix can anyone recommend things for her to do if she doesn't take to skiing?

One advantage for her is she gets a discounted lift pass!

Thanks

Hi,

I am new to the site and just after some advice. I am a snowboarder myself!!

I am off to Chamonix in 2 weeks and my mother is coming with me, she said she is happy to look for alternative things to do although she has said she might try a lesson.

Is 65 to old to take up skiing (having not done it myself not sure what muscles are used or what risks it has to someone slightly older)

She is reasonably fit for her age and walks regularly and goes to the gym a couple of times a week.

I personally think she should give it a go, but I don't want to persuade her to do something that may cause her injury.

Thanks in advance

Steve
